Standard First Aid with CPR-HCP + AED

Comprehensive two-day course offering Standard First Aid and CPR for healthcare providers (HCP/AED).  This is the accepted level for most health care practitioners in Ontario. Our course provides the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies; use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and additional skills for healthcare providers.

Recommended for: Physicians, nurses, paramedics and allied healthcare providers , dentists and dental hygienists, students. Firefighters also frequently need this level of training. Many college and university students complete this level to satisfy program requirements, specifically personal support workers (PSW), nurses, paramedics, doctors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, occupational therapists and respiratory therapists


CERTIFICATION

Method of Instruction: In class

Duration: 2 days (14-16hrs) for full certification course

Prerequisites: No prior learning required. Must be able to physically perform skills. Please wear comfortable clothing as you will be required to be on floor for some of the skills. Plain minimal jewellery only.

Certification Requirements: In order to receive a certification in this course, the student must demonstrate all of the following over the two days:

  • Ability to comprehend and successfully demonstrate all required skills, including critical steps
  • 100% attendance and participation
  • 75% min. passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation
  • Adherence to the Fundamental Principles

Certification upon successful completion: 3-year certification in Standard First Aid, CPR Level HCP, and AED

RE-CERTIFICATION

Duration: 1 day (7-8hrs) for re-certification course

Method of Instruction:  In class

Re-certification Prerequisites: You must hold a Current Red Cross full certification (SFA CPR-HCP). If certification has lapsed/expired then full course will be required.
